Boulder, ColoradoBoulder Community Hospital expanded its operations into east Boulder with the addition of the Foothills Hospital. As part of that campus, Integrated was asked to serve as the design-build contractor for a new medical office building adjacent to the main hospital. This two-floor facility was purposely designed to house two different medical groups – a family medicine practice and a gastroenterology practice.
The project had strict timelines due to expiring leases for the tenants and also had to coordinate construction work with the Foothills Hospital Emergency room whose front door was literally yards from the job site.
By making Integrated the single point of responsibility for the entire project, the Owner was able to reduce coordination efforts and provide a seamless experience for the user groups. Our experience with medical equipment proved invaluable both during the design phase when discussing utility interfaces and clearances and during the construction phase when coordinating installations through our subcontractors. Our team was also able to cope with a significant change of program in the middle of the project when some lower floor rooms were upgraded to handle more invasive procedures.
As a testament to Integrated’s goal of creating an enjoyable project for our Owners, there were only three change orders on the entire project, all due to changes in program. All other “typical” change order were handled internal to our team turning what is normally a contentious issue for Owners into an invisible process.
